A typical North London garden. Designed for a family with two young children. Built on a sloping site with quite a level change right across its breadth. The overall appearance of the design is of a pretty garden with clean contemporary lines, sharpening up as it approaches the house. A very simple ground pattern leads you out of the house into a small courtyard and on up lovely broad steps to the higher level with a little drinks terrace positioned to catch the last of the days sun.

We made a flush threshold to the kitchen with a view to the client having full width glass doors in the future. The broad steps link and define the upper and lower levels of the garden as well as incorporating some hidden storage at one end. The planting pallet is of dusty pinks and purples to complement the grey blue of the timbers and of the house interior. The beds gently cocoon the sunset terrace giving it a sense of privacy without closing it off.
