At the rear of a pretty little terrace in Fulham, roughly poured concrete and poor fencing met me. All that grew was a wall of ivy on the west side of the garden.
The garden was reached via a south facing passage along the side of the kitchen. To cool this suntrap, I introduced two pergolas covered with fragrant climbers, and large pots of arching bamboos, throwing a dancing, dappled shade. |
A new off-white concrete path, standing just proud of its Cotswold buff edging, leads you out into the open space were a decking area invites you up to a bench and deck chairs under the shade of a fig tree. The path skirts the edge of the deck and draws alongside a raised bed, the full length of the west side beneath the Ivy-wall.
